Day eight of the Homes for Heroes Twelve Days of Christmas Miracles delivers a gift in South Carolina to sixteen foster children. Homes for Heroes mortgage specialists, Tommy Willcox and Brandi Szablewski, nominated a local hero named Susan to receive an unexpected $500 Christmas gift. Instead, she chose to put the money to good use and make Christmas better for sixteen foster children.
Twelve Days of Christmas Miracles
Each holiday season, Homes for Heroes and their affiliate real estate and mortgage specialists, add something special to the lives of select heroes. Homes for Heroes offers special Christmas gifts to twelve American hero families during a Twelve Days of Christmas Miracles tradition.
Tommy Willcox and Brandi Szablewski, in conjunction with their local hero, Susan, chose a local all-boys foster home to receive the benefits of Susan’s $500 gift. Many of the children have spent their entire life in a foster home. They’ve never had a family. They’ve never woke up to a family on Christmas morning.
Special Holiday Arrangements
To bring something special to the lives of these children, it was arranged to have the kids all transported with their legal guardians to a local restaurant. The restaurant owner agreed to shut down for a couple hours during an afternoon so the kids could bake and decorate cookies. The owner of Garage 75 went above & beyond. He not only allowed everyone to use his kitchen to bake cookies, but he fed the kids, opened the arcade for the kids, and had his staff help coordinate and manage the day’s activities.
$500 Gift Helps Sixteen Foster Kids
Tommy and Brandi purchased all the cookie ingredients, decorations and supplies. The restaurant owner gave each child $10 to play video games while he and his staff fixed the children an early dinner. The children took the cookies they made, went through the local county Festival of Lights, and at the end, each child received a personalized gift!
“It was a pleasure to participate in helping Susan turn her Christmas Miracle gift into a donation that helped sixteen children enjoy the holiday season a little more this year. Susan is a true example to others,” said Tommy and Brandi.
Thank you to all who made this Christmas gift possible. Susan, we all thank you for your service. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you from all of us at Homes for Heroes.
