The Homes for Heroes Foundation had a wonderful August, by helping 10 Heroes in August and providing $15,730.34 in assistance.
OUR HERO HIGHLIGHT
We were pleased to assist a Hero, who in this case, is normally the one giving. Navy Veteran and reservist, Mike Wells from Osceola IN and his family, assists our Michiana Affiliates with helping local homeless veterans in their community. Mike and his family have also started a U.S. flag appreciation program.
Mike was recognized locally when he received the “Hero of the Month Award” for all he and his family have done in the community.
However, this time, it was our turn to help Mike and his family. Mike injured his retina and is unable to return to work until it fully heals. Waiting for workman’s comp to kick in, has placed an unexpected hardship on his family’s finances.
Therefore in recognition of his service, and due to his recent financial struggle, the Home for Heroes Foundation assisted Mike with two mortgage payments, totaling $1,052.
Thanks to our Affiliates and other donors, this assistance is possible. Here are the other Heroes who were able to receive assistance in the month of August:
