The year 2020 had more twists and turns for our heroes than we could have thought possible at the beginning of the year. From wildfires nationwide and internationally, a global pandemic, virtual teaching, and civil unrest, our heroes continued to serve their communities without a second thought. Homes for Heroes is proud to support these heroes and be able to give back to them and their families. Let’s see how we were able to impact our heroes and our communities in 2020.
Hero Communities Strengthened
Homes for Heroes affiliates were able to give back and make an impact in 3,012 communities across the United States in 2020. That means nurses were able to relocate to communities they were needed in. Law enforcement officers could move closer to the citizens that they serve. Military members were able to relocate after their service and begin impacting these communities in a different way.
“Thank you for recognizing the sacrifice our veterans, first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers make. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, all of us are seeing in real time the sacrifice and personal risk these men and women willingly assume to protect us and our loved ones.” – Katherine S., Homes for Heroes recipient

Heroes Served
Within the 3,012 communities strengthened, our real estate and mortgage lender affiliates were able to help 9,070 heroes buy, sell, or refinance their homes in 2020. Multiple of these people were double heroes, for instance, Jackie Bryce and her husband. Jackie is a military veteran and a teacher, while her husband is also a military veterans and police officer.
“Excellent program. I didn’t know about it before.” – Jackie Bryce, Homes for Heroes recipient
“As a 1st time home owner we were very satisfied with how our home buying experience turned out. As a Naval Veteran, and a Healthcare Worker it gives me great pleasure working with a company that gives back to those who put others before themselves. I know personally that these individuals don’t ask much for themselves, but it’s always nice to feel appreciation and respect. Nice job Homes for Heroes!!” – Kevin W., Homes for Heroes recipient
Rewards Given Back
Not only were our real estate affiliates able to give cash rewards to 9,070 heroes, but those rewards totaled $17.9 million in 2020! This is the largest yearly rewards total given back in Homes for Heroes 20 year history. The average hero rewards were $1,974. This is cash straight back into our heroes pockets. One of the most common purchases our heroes buy with their rewards are appliances. Some have also made cosmetic upgrades or necessary changes to their new homes.
“We did not know about Homes for Heroes until we selected our realtor. It’s a wonderful program and we feel blessed by it. Please know we will be telling folks about Homes for Heroes!” – Jack S., Homes for Heroes recipient
“Amy is amazing, very knowledgeable, very kind, and always stayed in contact with us. The Home For Heroes check came in on the 19th day after closing. It’s a huge bonus, we got a great real estate agent and got paid to have her help. Win win situation!” Victor, Homes for Heroes recipient
