Started shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, our mission is to serve every hero, whether that be nurses and other healthcare professionals, teachers, law enforcement and police officers, active, reserve, and veteran military members, EMS responders, and firefighters. Since 2002, we’ve helped over 44,000 heroes with their homeownership goals!
Homes for Heroes knows there are unique challenges nurses like yourself face when house hunting. But, there is help for nurses buying a house, and our affiliate real estate agents and lenders can help make your home buying or selling experience a great one. Moving across the state, country, or even from overseas? Do you have long or irregular shift hours? Our agents will work on your schedule to ensure you have every opportunity for homeownership.
How We Work
Homes for Heroes has thousands of licensed real estate agents and mortgage lenders across the United States. Several of our affiliates are even former heroes themselves. When you sign up for Homes for Heroes, we automatically match you with an affiliate in the area you’re looking to move to. This takes the pressure of finding a good local agent away, and you can be confident your agent understands your local housing market. They’ll also be able to answer all your questions about the buying and selling process.
Our Homes for Heroes lenders are versed in conventional loans, but also some unconventional loans too. If you qualify for a VA Loan, FHA Loan, or USDA loan, our affiliate lenders are here to walk you through that process. Not sure what type of mortgage loan is right for you? They can talk through the different types of loans and recommend the best option for your credit, finances, and lifestyle.
Hero Rewards Savings
When you use a Homes for Heroes, you’ll get Hero Rewards after your closing as our way of saying thank you for being a hero. This might sound too good to be true, but it is. We know the sacrifices you’ve dealt with to pursue a rewarding nursing career. Extensive and expensive schooling, long shifts, and time away from family all deserve our thanks.
When you choose Homes for Heroes, there are no hidden fees to use our affiliates, no extra paperwork, and no complicated process to receive your Hero Rewards. You just complete your home transaction like any other home transaction, and you’ll be rewarded after closing. It’s that simple.
Your Hero Rewards come in the form of a check worth .7% of your home’s purchase price. Broken down, this means if you buy or sell a home for $200,000, you’ll receive a check for $1,400. If you sell your house for $200,000 and buy a new home for $300,000, you’ll receive $3,500! The median sale price of a home in 2020 was $355,900.
Plus, if you work with our mortgage, title and inspection specialists, you can save $500 on lender fees, $150 on title services, and $50 on a home inspection. That adds up to thousands of dollars in savings, which is a huge help when buying a house.
Once you get your Hero Rewards, you can do anything you’d like with them. You can fix up your new home, buy new furniture or appliances, or replenish your finances for closing costs. Or, you can take a vacation or go on a shopping spree! The money is yours, with no restrictions on what it can be spent on.
