Day six of the Homes for Heroes Twelve Days of Christmas took place in Wilmington, NC. Homes for Heroes real estate specialist, Michelle Roberts, presented Joe Lopez and his family with $500 worth of gifts from Homes for Heroes.
The Lopez Family of Wilmington, NC
Joe Lopez is a local firefighter in the Wilmington, NC area. Joe and his wife are wonderfully supportive parents. They homeschool their two daughters, and somehow find time to nurture and support their girls passions and dreams. Their oldest daughter is an up and coming photographer, and the youngest is a true artist, chef, and baker.
Challenges During Holiday Season
This time of year is challenging for Joe’s family. His wife has Lupus and several additional medical complications that can be difficult to manage. Their daughters are on the autism spectrum and deal with high anxiety. This time of year is hard because if there’s extra money, it goes toward medical expenses. The girls struggle more this time of year too. The bright holiday lights, loud festive noises, and the overall fast-paced pressure of the Christmas season can often cause high anxiety levels for the girls.
$500 Christmas Gift Helps with Expenses
Each holiday season, with the assistance of their affiliate real estate and mortgage specialists, Homes for Heroes offers special Christmas gifts to twelve American hero families. This year real estate specialist, Michelle Roberts, was selected to present a $500 Christmas gift to Joe Lopez and his family.
The $500 was used to purchase:
- Apple Pencil
- Camera Case
- External Hard Drive
- Cookbooks
- Art Supplies
- Film for Camera
- Case for Ipad
- Stickers
- Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage also contributed an additional $250
“When I found out this family had been chosen I got goosebumps and cried. This family deals with so much and does it with amazing love and grace. They really come together and support one another. I cannot think of a more deserving family to receive a Christmas Miracle,” said Michelle Roberts, Homes for Heroes affiliate.
Thank you to all who made this Christmas gift possible. And Joe, we all thank you for your service. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and your family from all of us at Homes for Heroes.
