A Michiana Army Sergeant and his wife were just trying to give what little they had to their children during the holidays, then along came a Christmas miracle.
To pull off any good surprise, you have to lie … just a little
Homes for Heroes has been working with Army Sergeant Edward Marshall and his wife Jessica. Jim McKinnies told them to come by Tuesday to sign some papers as the couple works toward purchasing their first home. McKinnies had something else up his sleeve. Some time ago he submitted an email nominating Marshall for the surprise of the season. Homes for Heroes selected 12 service members nationally. Sergeant Marshall was one of them.
“I wasn’t expecting this,” Marshall says as he realizes that he wasn’t at the office to sign papers. “I really appreciate everyone!” The father of five has already put in 17 years of service. He’s a recruiter now and was with the 82nd Airborne during the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
