A Little About Brandon H.
Staff Sgt. Brandon H. has spent eight years as a Paratrooper with the US Army. He is married with three children and will be leaving for his 3rd deployment just days after Christmas. Brandon has spent two tours in Afghanistan and this will be his first in Iraq. He is currently stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and will be losing his housing there this week. He will be moving his family back to Kentucky while he is on leave to live with relatives. Once moved, they will all go back to Ft. Bragg after Christmas and stay in a hotel until he deploys. From there, Brandon’s wife and children will head back to Kentucky. His family is very supportive of him and due to having a low income, paying for all of this is nearly impossible to do and has created a stressful time for all involved.
Brandon comes from a military family. His father is US Army 3rd Infantry and his brother is 4th infantry US Army who just returned from deployment just before Thanksgiving. Brandon’s brother returned to a warm welcome from his new son whom he met for the first time. His mother is a photographer and provides free photography sessions to military and law enforcement families. All three men are members of the Camp Nelson Honor Guard.
Giving A Christmas Miracle
Since this family is moving, we spent his gift to help them catch up on some bills before they move. They were able to pay their cell phone bill and final cable bill. They also bought some Christmas gifts for their kids and will have gas money for the traveling they will do back and forth to Ft. Bragg before Brandon’s next deployment.
Since the family doesn’t come back to Kentucky until this weekend, there was no time to get local businesses involved and I had to overnight everything to them.
This experience has been incredible! I am so glad to be able to give back to this family, as they do so much for others in general. Brandon and his wife have been very appreciative and I am happy to know that this will help take some stress off their shoulders so they can relax and spend time together during his short leave.
I am proud to be a part of such a wonderful program that gives so much back to those who give so much to this country and its people. In addition to this gift, my office has taken up a donation for Brandon and his family that will be given to them when they get back to Kentucky. SHH… They don’t know that yet!
