General Summary
The Business Development Consultant is responsible for growing the Homes for Heroes affiliate network by developing relationships with prospective affiliates and guiding qualified candidates through the membership process. This role uses a consultative, relationship-based sales approach to understand each prospect’s business, demonstrate the value of the Homes for Heroes program, and help qualified affiliates make informed decisions about joining the network.
As the first point of contact for many prospective affiliates, the Business Development Consultant builds trust through meaningful conversations, professional guidance, and a commitment to long-term success. Working closely with the Affiliate Engagement team, this role helps ensure a seamless transition from enrollment to onboarding and ongoing engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Achieve sales targets by proactively identifying and recruiting new affiliates for the Homes for Heroes program. This includes:
- Achieve established sales goals by recruiting qualified new affiliates.
- Developing and managing a robust pipeline of potential affiliates.
- Conduct discovery conversations to assess business needs and program fit.
- Present the Homes for Heroes value proposition using a consultative sales approach.
- Guide qualified prospects through enrollment and successfully close new memberships.
- Expand healthy affiliate representation within assigned territories.
Cultivate Strong Relationships:
- Build trust through meaningful conversations and consistent follow-up.
- Tailor communication to connect effectively with a variety of personalities and business models.
- Educate prospective affiliates on the value of the Homes for Heroes program.
- Deliver a professional, responsive, and positive experience throughout the sales process.
Territory & Team Collaboration
- Partner with Engagement Consultants to ensure a seamless transition following activation.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, and other departments to strengthen affiliate growth and territory performance.

- Participate in team meetings, training, and company initiatives while contributing to a collaborative culture.
Brand Ambassador
- Represent Homes for Heroes professionally in every interaction.
- Promote the mission, values, and programs of Homes for Heroes.
- Build positive relationships with affiliates and internal team members.
- Support company initiatives that enhance the affiliate experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Proven success in consultative sales, business development, account management, or relationship management.
- Strong relationship-building, active listening, and communication skills.
- Ability to influence through education, problem-solving, and trust rather than high-pressure sales tactics.
- Strong organizational and pipeline management skills.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
- Excellent presentation and virtual communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to achieve measurable goals.
- Adaptable and collaborative in a fast-paced environment.
- Real estate and/or mortgage industry experience preferred.
- Alignment with Homes for Heroes core values.
- Must Get It, Want It, and have the Capacity to Do It.
Other Requirements
- Employees in this role are required to use Company-approved communication and productivity technologies, including tools that may record, monitor, transcribe, and analyze business communications using artificial intelligence for legitimate business purposes, in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.
- This position is expected to be worked within core business hours and occasionally requires participation in after-hours work for special events.
- This is a 100% remote position available to candidates residing in: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin.
- Must have reliable high-speed internet capable of supporting an omnichannel communication solution and a dedicated and professional home office environment is required.
- There are no special physical demands. Extended periods of computer and telephone work may be required.
