Homes for Heroes, Inc. was launched in Minnesota shortly after 9/11 when a foreign attack on U.S soil shook America. We needed a way to say, “Thank you” to those who serve the people of our country. Homes for Heroes is a nationwide community of real estate agents and loan officer affiliate specialists; all committed to make the home buying process a little easier for our heroes.  

Who the Program Serves

How the Program Works

The program is designed to help save on the cost of buying, selling, and refinancing a home. On average, those who use the program save over $2,400.  When you use a Homes for Heroes affiliate real estate agent for your transaction, you’ll receive Hero Rewards back in the form of a check after closing. The savings equate to $700 per $100,000 spent.

Part of the money goes to you, and a portion is donated to the Homes for Heroes Foundation, in order to help other heroes. So not only are you benefiting from the program, but you are helping others as well.

The Mayo Clinic and Mayowood Mansion

Rochester is the birthplace of the world-renown The Mayo Clinic healthcare system. Just on the outskirts is Mayowood- the 1911 estate of the clinic’s co-founder, Dr. Charles Mayo. You can schedule a tour of the Mayo family mansion to learn more about the founding family.  If you visit during the Christmas season, you will find the mansion decorated as the Mayo family would have decorated it in the early 20th century.

The Plummer Building and Mayo Clinic Historical Suite

Don’t pass by without also stopping at the Plummer Building. On the third floor museum, you can learn even more about the Mayo brothers, and the early days of the hospital. You can see instruments from the earliest surgeries, as well as the many awards given to the Mayo doctors.

Quarry Hill Nature Center

Another frequently visited site is the Quarry Hill Nature Center on Silver Creek Road. The center provides information on local nature and has many beautiful hiking trails as well as ski trails in the winter. Take a picnic lunch and listen to nature, or enjoy biking the trails.

Education for Rochester Residents

Rochester Public School district has 41 schools for your choosing. There are many Charter schools available in the area as well.
