I'm a Firefighter for the Houston Fire Department where we fight fires and are EMS. I'm just writing this to tell anyone who was thinking about buying a home my personal experience with this program. I was internet looking for homes when some of the guys around me started talking about buying their first home and their experiences. It’s then when I realized there was a lot more than just having some money saved. there were things that I was a bit foggy on like how much money was need to put down on the house, closing cost , fix rates and so on. Well one of the guys had mentioned he used a program called Homes for Heroes and that they helped him with closing costs. So I decided look them up and give the program a try. Right from the start I was taken step by step through what I need to save and paperwork needed. My Realtor was especially nice and very patient going from house to house new construction to older home not being sure on what I wanted. In closing, I found the program very helpful and easy to go through. They take you step by step, and then you’re in your home.
"During the sale of our home in Des Moines we became aware of the Homes for Heroes program. We decided to submit our contact information online to be connected with a Homes for Heroes realtor for the purchase of a home in the Corridor area. We were contacted within a few short hours by Maria White, with Exit Hawk Realty. Maria was flexible, honest, fun and easy to work with. And we can't forget that the Homes for Heroes program provided us with over $2,000 back in our pocket. That doesn't happen too often when you purchase a home with just any realtor."

“We were thrilled to learn we could buy our home and save nearly $3,000 because of Homes for Heroes. Doug Martin of The Marc Austin Highfill team at Exit First Realty worked hard to make it happen. We will definitely tell our friends about the program. Thanks Homes for Heroes for helping us make our dream of owning a home." – David and Jennifer Woods, Richmond, Va.
This program proved to me that it truly does cares about its Heroes. Back this summer, I lost a fellow officer and friend in the line of duty. He was killed in traffic accident while responding to assist another officer. Mrs. McMaster knew that this officer was a friend of mine, so the Homes for Heroes Program made a donation in the name of that officer.
Another awesome benefit with this program is that part of your realtor’s commission is used to assist you in your closing cost. Any extra money that is left over from that, it is then donated to the charity of your choice. A short time after our closing, we had a family member pass due to cancer. The left over money from our closing costs was donated to the American Cancer Society in the name of our deceased family member. This deceased family member just a happened to be a great teacher too.
Finally, I would highly recommend this program to any of our Heroes. Believe me when I say that this is a great program and that I will most definitely use this program in the future for selling or buying a home. “Service DOES Deserve its Rewards” – Mark Grant and family

My realtor Ruth McMasters from the very beginning great starting with the initial professional, informative and encouraging phone conversation. There are so many pros and cons with traditional home buying and various programs in this market that, an expert with many real estate experiences as Ruth is a blessing. Meeting Ruth was certainly a game changer for me. As a program participant I recieved great savings. My wish would be that other "Heroes" take advantage of the "Homes for Heroes" program!” –Mary Phillips
