Day seven of the Homes for Heroes Twelve Days of Christmas Miracles delivers a gift in the Boston, MA area to an ER nurse and her family. Homes for Heroes real estate specialist, Charleen Warner, presents Amy Gravel and her husband with an unexpected $500 Christmas gift and the Gravel family put the money to good use.
The Gravel Family Makes Their Way North East
Amy Gravel was a nurse in Texas who wanted to make her husband, Craig, a happy man by moving to his beloved New England. All Amy required from her new home was it had to have trees, birds and be located near the beach. All of these ideals led the Gravel family to a new home on Cape Cod.
One year later, Homes for Heroes had the privilege of assisting Amy and Craig move closer to Boston when Amy’s work situation changed. It required the Gravel’s to sell their Cape Cod home and find a new home suitable to accommodate their infant grandson and a Great Dane named Drufus!
Amy and Craig Wrestle Recent Challenges
Recent times have been challenging for the Gravels. Craig has struggled with a bad back and was required to have multiple back surgeries. Unfortunately, Craig is unable to work due to his back issues. And Amy, as an ER nurse, is constantly on her feet for long periods of time. Over the years, her knees have worn down and she couldn’t hold off getting them fixed any longer. So, Amy had two surgeries last winter to get them back into shape.
To add insult to injury, during one of the fierce north eastern snow and wind storms, one of Amy’s favorite trees fell and landed on both her car and the family truck!!!
