“God hasn’t brought me this far to give up on me and my family.”
A Little About Ms. B.
Ms. Cecilia B. is a 37-year-old single mother of four wonderful children- Vashawn (18), Nykira her adopted niece (17), Kytianna (15) and Kasie (6)- and up until two years ago, she was a medical assistant. However, this all changed due to her vision declining.
To date, she is 100 percent blind in her right eye and 40 percent in her left. Around the same time her vision started to decline, her six-year-old daughter Kasie was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma Brain Cancer. When asked how she is able to go on considering all that she is up against, she simply said, “Through my faith in God.” She explained that she has been on her own since she was 15-years-old, which is when her mother passed away. At the time, she was left to raise herself and now she is raising her children all on her own:
“God hasn’t brought me this far to give up on me and my family… He always comes through when you’re not expecting it.”
Giving A Christmas Miracle
While Mrs. B. was not expecting me or the Home for Heroes®, it was through the grace of God our paths crossed and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. While Ms. B. does receive some public assistance, it doesn’t pay for everything.
While visiting with her one day, she sent her daughter to the bedroom to get the mail from her night stand. When her daughter returned, she had a hand full of unpaid bills, some past due, including the light bill of $235.00, water bill of $197.00, phone bill of $125.00 and countless medical bills. I asked her if the children and herself have enough food to eat and she replied with a simple yes. At that moment, it was obvious she needed money to pay her everyday bills.
I was honored to present Ms. B. a check from the Homes for Heroes in observance of Homes for Heroes’ 12 Days of Christmas Miracles, for the amount of $500. I am proud to be a part of such a giving organization and to particiapte in such an awesome program. I wanted to make sure she and her children had a wonderful Christmas, so on top of the Christmas Miracle from Homes for Heroes, I contributed $200 to help her and her family. Ms. B. is an awesome woman and mother that is not only appreciative of this blessing, but also beyond deserving.
Thank you Homes for Heroes for this gratifying opportunity.
