Primary contact with the lender did not have a full understanding of the program. She obtained clarification and was better able to explain how I would see the money. Money was to be subtracted from lender cost. However cost were shown after reducing HFH monies. At closing I suggested to the lender that all cost be shown and then show negatives for the HTH money. In other words I would prefer seeing the savings as opposed to just assuming that it was there. By contrast, USAA provides actual cash(gift card in the state of TN). This would have been preferred. The owners of the lending firm were good to work with. They provided major assistance in obtaining VA approval for the condo development where we bought. In addition, they were very personable and appeared to be truly concerned about our experience.
