Many of the technologies we now take for granted have their origins in research and development conducted for the military. Take for perfect example, the Internet, a technology that practically all Americans now use every single day. This is just one example among many of a revolutionary innovation born out of research done on behalf of the Department of Defense.
That is why any attempt to envision what the future might look like should probably take into account the projects already being researched by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
An interesting slideshow that was posted on Business Insider last week gives us a glimpse of some of the exciting projects taken on by DARPA that could have a huge impact on our everyday lives in the future. The projects range from technologies aimed at eliminating language barriers to research on manipulating minds into learning faster.
Check out the slideshow and try to imagine how different our world will look, even in a mere 20 years!
